COMMENTS

Eternal Darkness is one of the Gamecube's most underrated games. I actually perfer this to Resident Evil. Eternal Darkness doesn't rely so much on blood and gore (even though it has plenty of it) but on the psychological factor. It likes messing with your mind. The sanity meter is brilliant. Once it gets to a certain level things start happening. Silicon Knights have come up with some excellent ways to scare and confuse you. One time a screen popped up saying the controller was unplugged so I checked the connection only to realize I had been fooled. There are other effects that are even more convincing. In the beginning you start out as Alex Roivas who comes across a book while searching for her grandfather's murderer. The more she reads it the more she learns about humanity and its battle against a great source of evil. You control 12 different characters from 12 different periods of time. Each character has authenic weaponary and speak in their native tongue for a while. The controls are easy to get used to. You can use numerous weapons and magick. The magick system is very simple to use. In terms of length Eternal Darkness is above average and add to that the ability to play through it three ways. I highly recommend this game to anyone brave enough to try it.
